Wisp is an excellent addition to anyone’s arsenal in Warframe. This elusive enchantress is most commonly known for her support capabilities as she blinds foes with her Breach Warp and provides powerful buffs to her allies via her Reservoirs.

However, this only scratches the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Wisp’s potential. While Wisp does excel as a support, she can easily become one of the most devastating warframes with the right build and carve a path through enemies on her own.

That’s why we’ll be going over everything you need to know to about Wisp in Warframe – how her abilities work, how to get/farm her parts, and the best builds to make her an ethereal menace.

The Best Amps in Warframe (2024)

Overview of Wisp & Abilities

Warframe Wisp Guide: Abilities, How to Get, and Best Build (2024) (5)

Stats

  • Health: 100 (300 at rank 30)
  • Shields: 75 (225 at rank 30)
  • Armor: 175
  • Energy: 200 (300 at rank 30)
  • Sprint Speed: 1.2

As you can see, Wisp is on the lower end of stats when it comes to durability. But in regards to Energy and Sprint Speed, Wisp is amongst the best, which perfectly suits her high mobility and ability focused playstyle.

Passive

Warframe Wisp Guide: Abilities, How to Get, and Best Build (2024) (6)

Wisp has a rather unique passive, as you can virtually stay invisible through an entire mission simply by constantly jumping and aim gliding. This is rather simple to achieve, as the invisibility does not end immediately upon landing. Thankfully, the invisibility also applies to your equipped companion.

Because you are considered invisible while in the air, Wisp gains a stealth attack multiplier while using jump and glide attacks. Since melee weapon attacks do not break the invisibility either, you can easily put out some devastating damage.

Unfortunately, the same can’t be said about firing a gun. Even if the weapon is silenced, it will break Wisp’s invisibility. However, if you stop firing for a few seconds, she will once again be able to go invisible.

Wisp’s first ability is one of the best supporting abilities in Warframe. You can have up to six active Reservoirs, constantly providing buffs to any ally who touches them.

Since the reservoirs last forever (or until you place down too many), you can gain buffs indefinitely by continuously running through them to refresh the duration. Being able to cycle between providing your team with more health, speed, and crowd control solidifies Wisp’s spot on any team.

Though as a side note, you may want to avoid the Shock Motes in some cases. They have a rather long range and can zap enemies through walls. While this usually isn’t a problem, it can be annoying when it slows down enemy waves on Defense missions (or anything involving a static objective).

Will-O-Wisp (2nd Ability)

SpecStats
Duration2.5/3/3.5/4 s
Drain50 energy
RangeN/A
Misc.3s of invulnerability time

This ability is Wisp’s bread and butter for survivability. Giving yourself a 3 second invulnerability window, while distracting enemies, is sure to get you out of sticky situations. Just note that the invincibility only kicks in after you teleport.

If you need even more survivability, you can pair this with a Rolling Guard mod for a few more seconds of invulnerability.

Breach Surge (3rd Ability)

Warframe Wisp Guide: Abilities, How to Get, and Best Build (2024) (9)
SpecStats
Strength1/1.25/1.6/2x Damage Multiplier
20% Radiation status chance
Duration1/9/12/16 s Blind duration

Range11/13/16/18 m

100% (spark chance on kill)
1.5 x (spark crit multiplier)
200% (Reservoir surge range bonus)
10 m (Reservoir teleport min. range)
100% (Sol Gate spark chance on hit)

This ability is the main source of damage for Wisp, as well as providing fantastic CC. Enemies affected by Breach Surge will not only be blinded but also gain a separate damage multiplier that scales off of ability strength.

When a breached enemy dies, they have a chance of sending another spark to a nearby enemy for double the damage of the original target. The proc chance of the additional spark is also affected by ability strength. With sufficient ability strength, you can reliably chain this effect back to back.

This ability alone gives Wisp the potential to clear out waves of high level enemies with little to no issues if played correctly. You can grant this ability even more area coverage by casting it while your clone (from Will-O-Wisp) is traveling. Doing so will spawn another breach around your clone.

The added synergy between Breach Surge and your Reservoirs is just the icing on the cake. As long as you have line of sight of a Reservoir, you can teleport to it. This effectively gives Wisp an infinite range teleport, which is incredibly useful for escaping hairy situations or defending multiple locations.

Sol Gate (4th Ability)

Warframe Wisp Guide: Abilities, How to Get, and Best Build (2024) (10)
SpecStats
Strength1,000 / 1,100 / 1,250 / 1,500 (base beam damage per half second)
2,000 / 2,200 / 2,500 / 3,000 (boosted beam damage per half second)
DurationN/A (As long as you have the energy to channel it)

Range11/13/16/18 m
Misc.500 % (base beam max damage ramp-up)
1,000 % (boosted beam max damage ramp-up)
50 % (boosted beam move speed penalty)
25 % (Vitality Mote damage bonus)
100 % (Haste Mote Corrosive status chance)
25 % (Shock Mote damage bonus)
100 % (Breach Surge spark chance on hit)

While channeling the power of the sun may seem enticing, this is probably the most underwhelming ability of Wisp’s kit. This ability also has synergy with all the types of motes from her reservoirs, granting damage and corrosion respectively.

However, even with a buffed sun beam, the damage is only really noticeable in lower level content. This ability doesn’t really do a whole lot of anything when put up against later enemies, especially on Steel Path mode. While the ability itself is a really cool concept, you’ll get infinitely more usage and utility from her other abilities.

How to Get Wisp in Warframe

If you’re still interested in Wisp, you can get the parts for her warframe from the Ropalolyst Assassination on Jupiter. This mission is unlocked after completing the Chimera Prologue.

While the drop chance isn’t terrible, you’ll have run the mission a couple times for Wisp’s parts. We go into depth on how to efficiently kill the target below.

Unfortunately, at the current time, there is not a prime version of Wisp in Warframe.

How to Beat Ropalolyst Guide

Phase 1

During this phase, the Ropalolyst will be airborne. Your job is to lure it to one of the three capacitor towers that surround the main platform. You can get to these towers via running on the cables but make sure they aren’t charged with electricity. When at one of the towers, wait for the Ropalolyst to do a charged beam attack and try to get the beam to hit the tower. If done successfully, the beam will charge the tower.

Now that you have a charged tower, you need to strip the Ropalolyst shields. This can be done via the void beam from your operator’s amp. When the shields are gone, you are able to approach the Ropalolyst with your warframe and you will be given an option to jump onto it. Mount the Ropalolyst and steer it into the charged tower. This will knock the Ropalolyst back to the main platform, grounding it.

Phase 2

Now that the Ropalolyst is grounded back at the main platform, it will try to stomp around, flailing its wings and shooting homing missiles. Try your best to avoid damage here. It will also spawn reinforcements in the form of Amalgams.

Bide your time until you notice two synovia on its back legs become vulnerable. Destroying one will stun it long enough for you to charge the Terren Charger laser and fire it. The Terren Charger is activated at a terminal on the main platform so make sure you identify it beforehand. After being shot by the Terren Charger, the Ropalolyst will resume flight.

Phase 3

Rinse and repeat phases 1 and 2 until the Ropalolyst is defeated. When grounded for the third and final time, the Ropalolyst will spawn extra reinforcements in the form of Battalysts and Conculysts but the fight remains the same. This is around the point where its body will become fully vulnerable and your victory is sealed.

Best Builds for Wisp in Warframe

Wisp is somewhat of a special case as you can run a single mod setup for all types of content without needing to switch between different builds. That being the case, feel free to use these builds as a general framework and tweak them to your own personal preference and needs!

Note: All builds can be tweaked depending on forma and mod levels.

All-Purpose Wisp Build

Warframe Wisp Guide: Abilities, How to Get, and Best Build (2024) (12)

This Wisp build combines the best of both worlds, allowing Wisp to efficiently buff teammates and easily stay alive at the same time. You’ll also have more than enough ability strength to turn Breach Surge into a death sentence, all while CCing crowds of enemies.

The only real issue with this build is that you might find yourself energy starved in hectic missions due to the lower ability efficiency. This can be dealt with by either running Arcane Energize or by allocating yellow and blue Archon shards to help deal with energy accordingly.

Arcanes

  • If you need more survivability, you can throw on Arcane Grace, Arcane Guardian, or Arcane Aegis.
  • If you need energy sustain due to the lower efficiency, you can go with Arcane Energize in one of your arcane slots.

Mod Choice Explanation

  • Brief Respite + Rolling Guard: This mod combination is used to allow shield gating, which will be your main form of survival in high level missions.
  • Augur Secrets: Mainly to help regenerate shields for shield gating. Can be swapped with any Augur mod depending on what stats you want, but having extra ability strength helps round out the build that much more.
  • Primed Sure Footed: Getting knocked onto the ground in high level missions usually means death, so you want to avoid that. Can be replaced with Handspring if you don’t have Primed Sure Footed.
  • Stretch: More range for Breach Surge means more blinded enemies, which will help you stay alive longer in high level missions.
  • Primed/Umbral Mods: If you don’t have the extra forma slots or the mods themselves, you can just use the normal versions of these mods as they only serve to add stats. Can work perfectly fine without Primed/Umbral mods, but you’ll have slightly lower health, energy, etc.

Pure Support Wisp Build

Warframe Wisp Guide: Abilities, How to Get, and Best Build (2024) (13)

Ironically, it’s the support Wisp build that focuses on ability strength more than any other build for her in Warframe. You’ll be heavily prioritizing ability strength over any stat in this build.

Unfortunately, the ideal endgame build for Wisp is very costly and may not be worth going for if you’re a newer player or lack the materials needed to make it work. Luckily, there are alternatives for a cheaper, more affordable support build that will work perfectly fine for Wisp.

This build revolves around Wisp’s Reservoir ability and providing incredibly strong buffs with as long of a duration as possible. To that extent, you’ll be focusing heavily on ability strength and duration.

You’ll effectively be a buff bot whose only goal is to keep your Reservoirs up around the map, so your teammates can constantly run through them to refresh their buffs. This is made easier by running the Fused Reservoir mod, which compresses all three buffs into a single canister at the cost of more energy.

You can occasionally throw out a Breach Surge, which should do tremendous damage thanks to how much ability strength you have, but it’s more of a secondary concern for when you have excess energy (or in an emergency situation).

Arcanes

  • Arcane Energize is essential, as you will want to be spamming your Reservoirs ability to upkeep the buffs as much as possible. With only 45% efficiency, you will really want Arcane Energize even if only at a low level.
  • Molt Vigor is invaluable when playing a build that wants to stack ability strength, as you will be able to reach ability strength numbers well over 500% with full stacks of Molt Vigor.

Mod Choice Explanation

  • Growing Power: Kind of a no-brainer choice when you’re always going to be applying status effects with your weapons, especially in high level content like Steel Path. You can never have too much ability strength, so it’s a win-win.
  • Transient Fortitude / Augur Secrets / Umbral Intensify / Blind Rage / Energy Conversion: These are all mainly just for stacking ability strength with little to no drawbacks.
  • Primed Continuity: You’ll need the duration to remedy the negative effects of Transient Fortitude, as you ideally don’t want to be negative duration for this build. Can be replaced with normal Continuity if needed.
  • Umbral Vitality / Umbral Fiber: These mods will greatly add to your overall survivability in high level content. Can be replaced with normal Vitality or normal Steel Fiber if needed.
  • Fused Reservoir: This is an augment for Wisp’s Reservoirs ability that essentially cuts out the micromanagement of having to keep up three different kinds of reservoirs and just puts them all into one at the cost of 200% efficiency. Because of the higher energy cost, you’ll really want to be making use of Arcane Energize which will also proc Energy Conversion in the process. This is a very helpful quality-of-life addition as it removes the difficulty of micro-managing your Reservoirs in high difficulty missions.

Best Weapons for Wisp

Regardless of which build you run, the best weapons for Wisp are those that can benefit from the fire rate buffs her Reservoirs provide. Otherwise, any well-built meta weapons will work perfectly fine.

The elements you want on your weapons are going to be the standard Viral or Corrosive, depending on the type of enemies. Though, since your secondary weapon will be a primer, Viral is always a great choice.

The best melee weapon for Wisp is a Zaw with Exodia Contagion. This allows Wisp to take full advantage of her stealth multiplier passive while simultaneously launching deadly projectiles from across the map.

Primary Weapon:

  • Shedu
  • Bubonico
  • Kuva Tonkor
  • Tenet Arca Plasmor

Secondary Weapon (Primer):

  • Kuva Nukor
  • Epitaph
  • Tenet Cycron

Melee Weapon:

  • Any Zaw build with Exodia Contagion
  • Glaive Prime
