Let’s face it – eating healthy isn’t easy, especially when it comes to kids and snack time. Kids get grouchy when they’re hungry and opting for healthy snacks that aren’t junk food takes a little extra thinking and creativity. But getting your kids involved and letting them experiment in the kitchen can be a total game changer. Instead of snack time being a chore, you can turn it into a fun activity that they’re actually excited about.
And that’s why today I’m sharing these waffle cone fruit and yogurt cups. It’s an easy recipe that you can make with kids because there’s no baking or sharp utensils, and it’s the perfect way for kids to get creative while learning about nutrition. They’re filled with yogurt and berries so there’s lots of calcium and nutrients. You can dip the cones in chocolate or not, and they’re a healthier snack that kids and adults will love.
How to Get Kids to Eat Healthy
Get Them Involved
One of the best ways to get kids to eat healthier is to get them involved in the process – whether that’s planning meals or helping out in the kitchen. Let them make healthy choices on their own too. By giving kids a job and letting them get creative in the kitchen, you can turn a chore into a fun activity. Plus – it’s an awesome way to spend time together as a family and you can teach your kids about nutrition at the same time.
Fruit and Yogurt Cups
With these fruit and yogurt cups, kids can choose their favorite kind of yogurt and fruits to use. They can dip their cones in chocolate, spoon in the yogurt and decorate with fruit all on their own. And because there’s no baking or hot stovetops, even young children can be involved. Not much different than decorating cookies, only waaaaaymore healthy. And just as pretty I might add.
What Age Should Kids Learn to Cook?
Everyone is definitely going to have different opinions about this, and all kids are different. But simple tasks like washing fruit, stirring, or measuring ingredients can be done by young children. Supervision is obviously important and make sure to teach your kids about kitchen safety. Our daughters make dinner one night a week. Not only does it give me a break, but they also have so much fun spending time together. Ps – did you see this adorable recipe video that our youngest daughter made???
Waffle Cone Fruit and Yogurt Cups
These waffle cone fruit and yogurt cups are definitely more fun than regular fruit and yogurt parfaits, and easy recipe for kids to make. By dipping the cones in chocolate there’s just a little sweetness, and they’re packed with nutrients thanks to the yogurt and berries. You can fill the cones with your favorite yogurt variety, and favorite fruits. We used strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. It’s a healthy snack for kids and adults, and so easy to make.
Is Yogurt Good For You?
Yogurt is obviously one of the main ingredients in these fruit and yogurt cups, and one of the most common questions you guys ask is if yogurt is good for you? Yogurt is definitely good for you. It’s filled with calcium, B vitamins, protein, potassium & some varieties have probiotics. Some kinds of yogurt have more sugar than others, so just check the packaging.
